2022 Heart South Football All-Conference Teams Announced

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2022 Heart South Football All-Conference teams and major award winners on Friday afternoon.

Senior Quarterback Garrett Kettle of No. 6 nationally ranked Benedictine College is the 2022 Heart South Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.

Kettle led the Ravens to a 10-1 regular season and 5-0 Heart South mark to capture the conference championship.

The senior from Alto Loma, California supplied the Ravens offense with 2,696 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. He went 187-of-317 passing for a completion percentage of 59-percent. He also ran for 414 yards and nine touchdowns this season.

Athanie Leeviraphan of Evangel and Mitchell Henry of Baker were selected 2022 Heart South Co-Defensive Players of the Year.

Leeviraphan finished his Evangel career with 16 interceptions, tying a program record. In 2022, the senior defensive back had 52 total tackles and seven interceptions for the Valor.

Henry was also selected the 2021 Heart South Co-Defensive Player of the Year. This past season, he led Baker in total tackles with 84 and had 13 tackles for loss for the Wildcats.

MidAmerica Nazarene freshman wide receiver Isaiah Williams is the 2022 Heart South Freshman of the Year and Benedictine College head coach Joel Osborn has garnered the 2022 Heart South Coach of the Year honors.

Williams led the Pioneers in receptions with 51 and had 745 yards receiving with two touchdowns.

Coach Osborn and the Ravens won the Heart South Conference Championship with its perfect 5-0 conference record. They advance to the NAIA-Football Championship Series for the first time since 2018. BC will host No. 10 Southwestern (Kan.) on Saturday, November 19 at 12 pm in the First Round of the NAIA-FCS.

Benedictine College's Kaleb Koch was also selected the 2022 Heart South Assistant Coach of the Year.
