Vander Woude, Whittick Earn Heart Men's Basketball Weekly Honors
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards on Monday afternoon.
Jack Vander Woude of Benedictine College earned the Heart Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award, while Nick Whittick of No. 11 ranked Baker University was selected the Heart Defensive Player of the Week.
Vander Woude and the Ravens went 2-0 last week with road wins at Missouri Valley, 87-82 and at William Penn, 79-66.
The sophomore made 15, three point field goals on the week, shooting 62.5-percent from three point range on 15-of-24. He averaged 22.5 points per game in the two wins.
Whittick and the Wildcats wrapped up the Heart regular season championship with two victories over MidAmerica Nazarene, 69-55, and (RV) Graceland, 86-84, last week.
The senior had five steals in the Heart Conference Network Game of the Week victory over Graceland and two against MNU. The Baker defense held MNU to just 55 points. MNU was coming off of a game against William Penn in which they scored 116 points.
