Heart Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week – January 31, 2022
In the fourth edition of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, Taylor Bottomley of Central Methodist University earned his third Heart Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award of 2022, while Grand View’s Carter Huyser was selected the Heart Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
In the fourth edition of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, Taylor Bottomley of Central Methodist University earned his third Heart Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award of 2022, while Grand View's Carter Huyser was selected the Heart Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Bottomley continues to soar above the competition for the Eagles, as he finished in first-place in the men's weight throw at the University of Central Missouri Relays, with his mark of 21.04, qualifying him for the NAIA national qualifying 'A standard mark.
He also competed in the shot put and finished second overall with a toss of 16.36, that also hit the 'A standard, to qualify him for NAIA nationals.
Huyser placed first out of 27 competitors in the 800m at the St. Ambrose Fighting Bee Invite in a time of 1:55.46, hitting the NAIA 'A standard qualifying mark. That time currently leads the Heart and is seventh nationally.
He also ran the anchor leg of Grand View's first-place 4x400m relay team, helping the Vikings time of 3:23.88 hit the NAIA 'A standard. That relay time currently ranks second in the Heart and 10th nationally.
