2022 Heart Women’s Soccer All-Conference Teams Announced

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2022 Heart Women's Soccer All-Conference teams and major award winners on Friday morning.

The award winners were voted on by all 13 Heart head coaches.

For the second-straight year, Sandra Jakobsen of the No. 7 nationally ranked Central Methodist University women's soccer team was selected for two awards, the 2022 Heart Women's Soccer Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.

She helped lead the Eagles to the Heart Regular Season Championship for the fourth-straight season. The junior from Svendborg, Denmark scored seven goals and supplied CMU with seven assists this season. She was also a 2021 NAIA First Team All-American and NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship All-Tournament Team selection.

Fellow teammate Laura Riesenbeck was also selected the 2022 Heart Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season.

The senior from Beverstedt, Germany helped lead CMU to an impressive 10 shutout victories this season including eight in Heart regular season play. The senior also scored three goals and had five assists for the Eagles. Riesenbeck was a 2021 NAIA Second Team All-American.

Ashley Arribas of the No. 10 nationally ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings captured the 2022 Heart Women's Soccer Newcomer of the Year honors.

The sophomore forward led the Vikings to a stellar regular season with an overall record of 13-2-2 and 10-1-1 in the Heart, earning the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Heart Conference Tournament.

Arribas scored six goals this season and recorded three assists for the Vikings.

No. 25 nationally ranked MidAmerica Nazarene's Sarah Assumma was selected the 2022 Heart Women's soccer Freshman of the Year.

The freshman forward had a fantastic season for the Pioneers, with her eight goals and seven assists.

Dan Schmidlin of Central Methodist and Bryce McClanahan of MidAmerica Nazarene were selected 2022 Heart Women's Soccer Co-Coaches of the Year.

Schmidlin and the Eagles went 15-2-1 and 11-0-1 in the Heart to earn the Heart regular season championship. Last season, Schmidlin led the Eagles to its first-ever trip to the NAIA National Semifinals in Orange Beach, Alabama.

McClanahan and the Pioneers went 13-3 in the regular season and 10-2 in Heart play. The Pioneers earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Heart Conference Tournament.
