Central Methodist Wins First Heart Indoor Track & Field Championship in Program History

For the first time in the history of the Central Methodist Track & Field program, the Eagles won the 2022 Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field championship on Saturday.

The Eagles finished with 156 total points, edging out second-place Grand View with 151 points.

Kailey Johnson of CMU scored the most points of any female athlete at the event with her 38 total points scored.

She placed first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.80, then took first in the 60m dash in a time of 7.72 and placed first in the long jump with a mark of 5.49m.

She also took third in the 200m dash in a time of 25.68 and earned second in the 4x400m relay in a time of 3:59.40.

The Heart will announce the 2022 Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Track Athlete of the Meet and Field Athlete of the Meet on Monday, February 21.

The top three finishers in each event were be considered 2022 Heart Indoor Track & Field All-Conference athletes. 1^st Place = First Team All-Conference, 2^nd Place = Second Team All-Conference, 3^rd Place = Third Team All-Conference, and fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in each event will be considered 2022 Heart Indoor Track & Field Honorable Mention All-Conference.
