Jordon Jones Named MNU Softball Coach

OLATHE, Kan. - MidAmerica Nazarene University Director of Athletics Todd Garrett announced the hiring of Jordon Jones as the next head coach for the Pioneers softball program.

Jones spent the last 4 seasons as the Head Coach of Central Baptist College (Ark.), becoming the fastest to 100 wins in program history. She was an assistant coach for 2 years prior to taking the reins. During her playing career for CBC from 2012-15, Jones was an all-Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference and all-region performer as well a second-team National Christian College Athletic Association All-American in 2015. She was also a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Scholar Athlete twice and helped lead Central Baptist to an NCCAA National Tournament Appearance in 2015 and an NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2012, where the Mustangs finished fifth in the nation.

"I am excited to welcome Jordon Jones to the MNU family as our next head softball coach," said Garrett. "Coach Jones' early success on the field is an indicator of her work ethic, attention to detail, and her ability to recruit and engage young women to progressively move a program positively forward. Having already accumulated a NCCAA National Title and surpassing 125 wins in just seasons, she is a proven winner. As equally important is her intentional approach to leading a program where culture and relationships are of the highest priority. She fits the mission of MNU and will be a tremendous asset to our women as they pursue being champions on the field and in the classroom; all while seeking Christ's career calling on their lives."

In addition to her softball coaching, Jones is also involved in many other areas, including being an instructor and Edge Camp coordinator for Applied Velocity in Greenbrier, Ark. She has previously worked as a CBC admissions counselor for a year as well as a lab technician and field assistant for the United States Geological Survey in Little Rock for four years. She received her CSCS through the NSCA in December of 2020.

"I could not be more excited about taking the reigns to this Pioneer program," said Jones. "MidAmerica Nazarene University has so much to offer, from the campus itself to the high quality programs offered to the athletic and educational experience. You won't leave this campus without knowing God loves you. There are a lot of amazing athletes returning to this squad and I can't wait to get to work with them, as well as adding some high quality recruits to the club! There's a bright future ahead for the Pioneers and I look forward to putting the feet to pavement. I know this is where I am supposed to be and God has a huge plan for all of us here!"

Jones earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Central Baptist in 2015 and earned her master's in exercise science at the University of Central Arkansas in 2018.
