Grand View Wins Back-to-Back Heart Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championships

Grand View University won its second-straight Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday inside Lacey Community Stadium on the campus of William Penn University.

The Vikings won the title last year and in 2017 and 2016.

Grand View won the 2022 event with 163 points, 13.5 points ahead of second-place Central Methodist, who garnered 149.5 points. Benedictine finished third with 125 points.

Caroline Cobo of Benedictine College scored the most points of any athlete at the meet, as she placed second in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 11:18.20 and won the 1,500m in a time of 4:49.09.

She also placed second in the 800m in a time of 2:16.58 and eighth in the 5,000m in a time of 2:16.58. Cobo was also on the 4x800m relay winning team with teammates Tatiana Smith, Claire Zarybnicky and Ashley Wurtenberger, as they won the event in a time of 9:23.52.

The following awards will be announced on Monday, Heart Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Track Athlete of the Meet and Field Athlete of the Meet.

The top three finishers in each event will be considered 2022 Heart Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference athletes. 1st Place = First Team All-Conference, 2nd Place = Second Team All-Conference, 3rd Place = Third Team All-Conference, and fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in each event will be considered 2022 Heart Outdoor Track & Field Honorable Mention All-Conference.
