About the VisitOP Commissioner's Cup 

The Visit Overland Park (VisitOP) Commissioner's Cup is awarded annually to the Heart of America Athletic Conference member institution that demonstrates the highest level of athletic success across conference competition during the academic year. 

Presented by Heart Commissioner Nik Rule, the VisitOP Commissioner's Cup serves as the conference's premier all-sports award and recognizes excellence across an institution's athletics department. The award honors schools that achieve sustained success across multiple sports while competing for conference championships throughout the year. 

The VisitOP Commissioner's Cup standings are determined using a percentage-based system that measures each institution's performance in the sports it sponsors. Schools earn points based on their finish in conference regular-season standings or Heart Championship events, with those results converted into percentages based on the number of participating institutions in each sport. 

For regular-season championship sports—including women's volleyball, football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's volleyball, baseball, softball, and men's and women's lacrosse—standings are converted into a percentage based on the number of competing teams.

Example:
Baker University earned a perfect 1.00 in men's soccer by finishing first in a field of 15 teams.

• 15/15 = 1.00 for first place

• 14/15 = 0.93 for second place

• … and so on.

For championship-event sports—cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field, wrestling, cheer, dance, bowling, and golf—the same percentage-based method is applied using Heart Championship results.

To determine the final standings, each institution's percentage results are combined and divided by the total number of sports that institution sponsors. The final VisitOP Commissioner's Cup standings therefore represent each school's average conference finish across all eligible sports in which it competes.
