The Peru State Bobcats have been selected for the Musco Team Sportsmanship Award for the sport of women's golf, announced by the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
The Bobcats, under head coach Sue Owen, earned the award for their display of the NAIA's Five Core Character Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.
Teams are nominated throughout the season by Athletics Administrators, Game Officials, Coaches, Student-Athletes and Fans.
Here is what the nominators had to say about the Bobcats:
"Head coach Sue Owen and her golf program show true sportsmanship at every golf tournament they compete in. After each tournament the Peru State squad stay throughout the awards ceremony and then one-by-one each player and coach thanks the tournament director and staff of the event and shakes each of their hand and looks them directly in the eyes and thanks them. They show true character each and every event they compete!"
