Perez, Escobar Named Heart Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards on Monday afternoon.

Gabriel Perez of Graceland University earned the Heart Player of the Week, while Sebastian Escobar of Central Methodist was named the Heart Pitcher of the Week.

Perez hit .500 on the weekend in a four-game series with Benedictine. The sophomore went 5-for-10 with three home runs and six RBI's. In his 10 at-bats, he collected 14 total bases.

Escobar three nine scoreless innings in CMU's 1-0, 11-inning win over Grand View last Saturday. The Monteria, Colombia native allowed just five hits and one walk, while striking out a career-high 12 batters.
