Madueno, Young Secure Heart Baseball Weekly Honors

The Heart of America Athletic Conference continued its spring Player of the Week honors on Monday, as the conference announced its Heart Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards.

Abel Madueno of William Penn University was selected the Heart Baseball Pitcher of the Week, while Eli Young of Baker earned the Heart Player of the Week.

Madueno defeated Graceland, 4-1, in his start on the mound. The junior threw a complete game seven innings and allowed just one earned run on six hits and struck out 10 batters.

Young and the Wildcats split a two-game series with Avila last week. The junior recorded four home runs in the series with 12 RBI. He hit home runs in two of his three at-bats on Friday and then hit two more on Saturday, including a grand slam.
