Hernandez, Madueno Selected Heart Player and Pitcher of the Week

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week award on Monday.

Abel Madueno of William Penn University was selected the Heart Pitcher of the Week, while Ricardo Hernandez of Park University garnered the Heart Player of the Week award.

Hernandez and the Pirates went 3-1 in Heart games last week, defeating Graceland in two games and splitting a pair of games with Mount Mercy.

The senior went 8-for-11 from the plate with five home runs, including a grand slam. He knocked in 15 RBI's on the week and walked four times, posting an on-base percentage of .813.

Madeuno struck out 12 batters in six innings of work in an 11-3 win over Peru State on Sunday. The senior allowed just one earned run and four hits.
