Grand View’s Shelby Slaven Named Heart Cheerleader of the Week

In the third edition of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Cheerleader of the Week awards, Grand View University's Shelby Slaven garnered the award.

Slaven and the Vikings competed twice last week, placing first out of 15 team's at the York College Invitational and took home third place at the Concordia Invitational. They finished the week with their highest team score of 90.0, helping lead Slaven to the Cheerleader of the Week honor.

Slaven is a sophomore from Tama, Iowa, she, and the Vikings will next compete at the 2023 Heart Competitive Cheer Championships on Saturday, February 18 in Marshall, Missouri on the campus of Missouri Valley College.

In order to nominate a cheerleader for the Heart Cheerleader of the Week, the Heart competitive cheer team that earns the highest score during a competition for the week of Feb. 6-Feb. 12 is eligible for the Heart Cheerleader of the Week award.

The team with the highest score will select one cheerleader from their team and that athlete will garner the award.
