
PREVIEW: Competitive Cheer & Dance Conference Championships
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2019 Heart of America Athletic Conference Competitive Cheer and Dance Championships are set for Saturday, February 16 inside the Sisam Arena on the campus of Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. TOURNAMENT HOME | LIVE VIDEO
Missouri Valley enters the competition as a two-time defending champion for cheer, taking the crown last year with a score of 78.52 in the finals. The Vikings are also the defending champions of the 2018 NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship, after defeating Oklahoma City University last March in the championship event to capture the program's third national championship.
On the dance side, a new conference champion will be crowned as the defending champions from last season was Avila.
Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. for all fans attending, with tickets priced at $10 for adults and $5 for students. For those unable to attend, Grand View will provide a live video stream.
The competitive dance teams will begin the competition with preliminary routines set to begin just after 11:00 a.m. Results from the dance prelims will be shared around 12:25 p.m., followed by the preliminary cheer routines.
Once the order of competition for the final rounds is set, championship routines will be performed, with final results and awards presentations scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
The Heart of America Athletic Conference cheer and dance teams will advance to the 2019 NAIA Competitive Cheer and Dance Southeast Qualifying Group, scheduled for Saturday, February 23 in the Collins Center on the campus of Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan.
