2022 Heart North Football All-Conference Teams Announced

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2022 Heart North Football All-Conference teams and major award winners on Friday afternoon.

For the second straight season, No. 2 nationally ranked Grand View University quarterback Johnny Sullivan was selected the 2022 Heart North Player of the Year and Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Sullivan led the Vikings to a perfect regular season record of 11-0 and 5-0 in the Heart North, to earn the conference championship. 

The senior from, Clinton, Iowa, went 188-of-287 passing this season for 65.5-percent completion percentage and thew 29 touchdowns for the Vikings. He also threw for 2,609 yards in 11 games, averaging 237.2 yards per game. 

Graceland Freshman Wide Receiver Gerald Monroe was also selected the 2022 Heart North Co-Offensive Player of the Year after a fantastic freshman campaign. 

In his first season with the Yellowjackets, he had 93 receptions for 1,518 yards and 16 receiving touchdowns. Those are the most receiving yards in a season by a player in the history of the conference.

Also for the second-straight season, Peru State's Devin Adams was named the 2022 Heart North Defensive Player of the Year. 

Adams had 52 tackles and 7.5 sacks this season for the Bobcats. He also had 21 tackles for loss, for a total of 82 yards.

Fellow freshman from Graceland, Quarterback Cade Ross earned the 2022 Heart North Freshman of the Year accolades and head coach of the Grand View Vikings, Joe Woodley was selected the 2022 Heart North Coach of the Year. 

Ross threw for 2,194 yards and 20 touchdowns this season and ran for four touchdowns for the Yellowjackets in his first season.

Coach Woodley and the Vikings won their fourth-straight Heart North Conference Championship in 2022 and are the defending NAIA National Runner-up. Grand View will host No. 15 Carroll (Mont.) this Saturday, November 19 at 12 pm in the First Round of the NAIA-Football Championship Series.

There was a three-way tie for Heart Assistant Coach of the Year, that award went to James Lewis of Graceland, Lou Varley of Peru State and Andy Jepson of Grand View.
