Three First Time Winners in 2023 Highlight Big Game Football Players of the Week

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Big Game Football Players of the Week on Monday.

Dalton Witherspoon of No. 20 ranked Benedictine College earned the Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, while Mark Edwards IV of Clarke University garnered the Conference Defensive Player of the Week award and Ethan Boulanger of Culver-Stockton College was selected the Special Teams Player of the Week from around the Heart. 

Witherspoon scored three touchdowns for the Ravens in their 62-28 win over Peru State. The sophomore scored two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. He ran for 112 yards and had 85 yards receiving.

Edwards IV and the Pride picked up their first win of the season last Saturday with a 27-24 victory over Central Methodist.

The junior from Richmond, California had six total tackles with two sacks, a forced fumble and two pass breakups.

Boulanger and the Wildcats also earned their first win of 2023 with a 33-30 win over Missouri Baptist. The junior kicked a 25-yard field goal in overtime to give the 'Cats the victory.

He also made three extra points and another field goal.
