For the Second-Straight Year, Benedictine College Earns Musco Team Sportsmanship Award

For the second-straight season, the Benedictine College football program has been selected for the Musco Team Sportsmanship Award for the sport of football, announced by the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

The Ravens earned the award for their display of the NAIA's Five Core Character Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.

"This marks the third year of the Musco Team Sportsmanship award and to continue to honor teams that play the game the right way and are servant leaders in the community, shows how important these qualities are to the conference," said Heart Commissioner, Lori Thomas. "Coach Osborn continues to lead his team with those five core character values in mind and the Ravens are deserving of this award."

Teams are nominated throughout the season by Athletics Administrators, Game Officials, Coaches, Student-Athletes and Fans.

Here is what the nominators had to say about the Ravens:

"Coach Osborn has been a class act since coming into the Heart of America Athletic Conference. When he has a question or concern during a game, he brings it to the officials in a respectful and reasonable manner. From an official's perspective, it is apparent that Coach Osborn takes his responsibility to grow his players into strong charactered men very seriously. In my years as an official, he has always displayed integrity in the way he acts towards everyone he encounters."

For the fall season, the Heart will be awarding its Musco Team Sportsmanship award to one team from each sport of football, women's soccer, men's soccer, women's volleyball, women's cross country and men's cross country.
