
Heart Announces 2023 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Teams and Postseason Award Winners
The Heart of America Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball All-Conference teams and individual award winners on Thursday, prior to the Heart Conference Tournament.
The Heart of America Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Basketball All-Conference teams and individual award winners on Thursday, prior to the Heart Conference Tournament.
The list features players from across the conference that were awarded to the First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams, as well as the All-Defensive Team.
The awards and All-Conference teams were selected by the Heart head coaches.
Below please find the list of 2023 winners:
2023 Heart Men's Basketball Player of the Year – Josh Pritchett – Evangel University
Pritchett ended the regular season, as the leading scorer in the Heart, averaging 19.5 points per game. The senior guard was named Heart Player of the Week twice this season and shot 52.6-percent from the floor and 42.1-percent from three-point range. He scored in double figures in 20 or 22 Heart contests and had a season-high 31 points against MNU on Feb. 16.
2023 Heart Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year – Autry Acord – Evangel University
Accord became Evangel's all-time steals leader this season. The previous record was 214 steals, he currently has 223. He also broke the single season program record of steals, with his current amount 100 steals.
2023 Heart Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Year – James Jordan – Central Methodist University
Jordan had a terrific first season with the Eagles, averaging 18.5 points per game, on 50-percent shooting and 43.4-percent from three-point range. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game. He was selected the Heart Player of the Week on November 28.
2023 Heart Men's Basketball Freshman of the Year – Sam Ungaschick – Benedictine College
Ungaschick was selected the Heart Player of the Week on January 9 and he was the Raven's second leading scorer this season, averaging 12.1 points per game. He shot 43.7-percent from three-point range and averaged 3.6 assists per game.
2023 Heart Men's Basketball Assistant Coach of the Year – Chase Dippel – Baker University
Coach Dippel helped lead the Wildcats to an impressive 21-7 overall record and 16-6 conference mark in the regular season. Baker earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will host No. 5 MNU.
2023 Heart Men's Basketball Coach of the Year – John Henry – William Penn University
Coach Henry recorded his 500th career victory on February 2 in a tough 86-85 win over Peru State. He has led the Statesmen to four-straight Heart conference regular season titles, including this season and three-straight Heart Conference Tournament titles.
