2024 Heart Men’s Basketball All-Conference Awards Announced
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2024 Heart All-Conference teams and postseason awards on Thursday.
The Heart head coaches selected a Heart First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention All-Conference team, as well as All-Defensive team.
The coaches also selected some individual awards that can be found below.
2024 Heart Men's Basketball Player of the Year – Anthony Brown – MidAmerica Nazarene
Brown was a three-time Heart Player of the Week, winning it all three times in the month of January. January 8, 22 and 29.
The senior averaged 16.9 points per game this season and 8.1 rebounds per game, as well as 4.6 assists per game.
2024 Heart Men's Basketball Coach of the Year – Adam Hepker – MidAmerica Nazarene
In just his second season as head coach of the Pioneers, Hepker led MNU to the 2023-24 Heart regular season championship with a conference record of 22-2 and earned the No. 1 seed in this week's Heart Conference Tournament.
2024 Heart Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year – Anthony Brown – MidAmerica Nazarene
The Olathe, Kansas native had 65 total steals this season and 25 total blocks, good for 2.2 steals per game. He helped lead the Pioneers defense to allow just 73.1 points per game, which was third best in the Heart this season.
2024 Heart Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Year – TreVon Smith – Central Methodist
Smith played in 29 games for the Eagles this season and averaged 18.0 points per game and shot 82.5-percent from the free-throw line. He also averaged 5.9 rebounds per game.
2024 Heart Men's Basketball Freshman of the Year – Manny Hammonds – William Penn
Hammonds knocked down 54, three-point field goals this season for the Statesmen and shot 36.5-percent from behind the arc for WPU on 54-of-148. For the season, he averaged 10.2 points per game.
2024 Heart Men's Basketball Assistant Coach of the Year – Matt Dickman – Graceland
Coach Dickman and the Yellowjackets went 20-8 overall in the regular season and 17-7 in the Heart to earn the No. 3 seed in the 2024 Heart Men's Basketball Conference Tournament.
