
2025 Heart Men's Basketball Postseason Awards Announced
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2025 Heart Men's Basketball All-Conference teams and postseason award winners on Thursday afternoon.
Each of the Heart All-Conference teams and postseason award winners were selected by the Heart head coaches.
Player of the Year – Cole Bowen - Graceland
Bowen had a fantastic season for the Yellowjackets averaging 17.2 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game, along with 3.7 assists per game.
Newcomer of the Year – Cole Bowen - Graceland
In his first season with the Yellowjackets in 2024-25, he also earned a spot on the Heart All-Defensive team.
Freshman of the Year – Joe Buchanan - MNU
In his first collegiate season, Buchanan averaged 15.1 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game, while shooting, 44-percent from three-point range.
Defensive Player of the Year - Cawhan Smith – Missouri Valley
Smith collected 83 total steals this season and averaged 5.1 rebounds per game at the guard spot.
Coach of the Year – Sean Dooley - Baker
Coach Dooley lead Baker to their first Heart regular season conference championship since 1989 this season. He also collected his 200th career win at Baker in the Wildcats' Heart Conference Tournament Quarterfinal win over Missouri Valley.
Assistant Coach of the Year – Trent Scheer - Baker
The Wildcats entered the postseason 25-3 overall and went 22-2 in Heart play. They have earned the No. 1 seed in this week's Heart Conference tournament.
