Knutson, Beaver Earn Heart Runner of the Week Honors
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Runner of the Week awards on Monday, as J'Lyn Knutson of Mount Mercy and D'Artagnon Beaver of William Penn captured the awards.
Knutson led the Mustangs with her 5th-place finish at the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The junior ran the 5K in a time of 19:38, leading her team to a second-place finish, in a field of 63 total runners.
Beaver and the Statesmen took on the Flaming Tiger NAIA Classic and the junior ran a personal best time of 25:32 in the 8K race.
He placed 38th out of 288 runners and the Statesmen took home 12th place as a team, in a field that featured eight NAIA ranked teams.
