2023 Heart Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships Preview
The Heart of America Athletic Conference is set to host the 2023 Heart Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, February 17 and Saturday, February 18 at the Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Missouri, on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University.
Tickets for the event are $5 per person and fans 16 and under will be admitted free.
The following teams will be competing at the event, Baker, Benedictine, Central Methodist, Clarke, Culver-Stockton, Evangel, Graceland, Grand View, MidAmerica Nazarene, Missouri Valley, Mount Mercy, Park and William Penn.
Central Methodist is coming off of its first-ever Heart Women's Indoor Track & Field Conference Championship in 2022. They snapped MidAmerica Nazarene's five-straight Heart Indoor Track & Field Conference Championship streak a season ago.
The Eagles won the Heart title last year with 156 points, five points ahead of second-place Grand View.
On the men's side, Grand View has captured the last three Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships. In 2022 the Vikings earned 223.5 points, 117.5 points ahead of second-place Benedictine.
The top three finishers in each event will be considered 2023 Heart Indoor Track & Field All-Conference athletes. 1st Place = First Team All-Conference, 2nd Place = Second Team All-Conference, 3rd Place = Third Team All-Conference, and fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in each event will be considered 2022 Heart Indoor Track & Field Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Major award winners from the Championships including the 2023 Heart Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year, Heart Women's Indoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year, Heart Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Meet and Heart Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet, as well as the 2023 Heart Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year, Heart Men's Indoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year, Heart Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Meet and Heart Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet, will all be announced on Monday, Feb. 20 on the Heart of America Athletic Conference website.
The two-day championships will begin at 2 pm on Friday with the Pentathlon and will resume on Saturday at 9 am with the Heptathlon.
