2024 Heart Men's Indoor Track & Field Postseason Awards Announced

The Heart of America Athletic Conference completed the 2024 Heart Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, February 17 and the conference is now pleased to announce its Men's Indoor Track & Field Postseason awards.

The following awards were voted on by the Heart Track & Field head coaches:

2024 Heart Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year – Ryan Scheckel– Mount Mercy University

Coach Scheckel and the Mustangs placed second overall at the 2024 Heart Men's Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships with 132 total points, just 1.5 points behind Benedictine.

2024 Men's Indoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year – Caleb Drake – William Penn University

Coach Drake leads the distance athletes at William Penn and he helped lead the Statesmen to 61 total points in those distance events at the Heart Men's Indoor Track & Field competition.

2024 Men's Indoor Track & Field - Track Athlete of the Meet – Keegan Thompson – Mount Mercy

Thompson tied for the most points scored of any male athlete at the event on Saturday. He won the men's 200m in a time of 21.45, he also placed second in the 400m in a time of 48.12 and second in the 60m finals in a time of 6.77. He also helped lead the Mustangs 4x400m relay team to a second-place finish in 3:17.04.

2024 Men's Indoor Track & Field - Field Athlete of the Meet – Luke Nickelson – Mount Mercy

This is the second-straight season, Nickelson has earned this award. He took home first place in the men's triple jump with a jump of 14.59m. He also earned third in the long jump and fourth in the high jump.
