Final WinWon Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week of 2024 Announced
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced the final WinWon Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards of the 2024 season on Monday afternoon.
Blake Willey of Grand View captured the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award for the second-straight week, while D'Artagnon Beaver of William Penn is the recipient of the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week Award.
Beaver and the Statesmen competed at the Simpson Kip Janvrin Open and the Drake Relays last week.
The junior took sixth at the Simpson Invite in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:24.64 and hit the NAIA 'B' Standard of qualification for the NAIA National Championship. He was also a part of the first-place Distance Medley Relay team at the Drake Relays, as the Statesmen won the event in a time of 10:12.53.
Willey hit the NAIA 'A' Standard in the shotput in two different meets last week, the Drake Relays and the Viking Classic.
AT the Drake Relays he placed 15th overall with a toss of 15.54m in the shot put. At the Viking Relays, he placed first with a toss of 16.61m in the shot.
