
No. 5 Park, No. 9 William Penn Garner Heart Player of the Week Honors
Members of the No. 5 nationally ranked Park University and No. 9 nationally ranked William Penn University men’s volleyball programs garnered Heart Player of the Week awards on Monday.
Members of the No. 5 nationally ranked Park University and No. 9 nationally ranked William Penn University men's volleyball programs garnered Heart Player of the Week awards on Monday.
Ike Papes of William Penn was selected the Heart Attacker of the Week, while teammate Matt Helmick was selected the Heart Setter of the Week and Daniel Isernhagen of Park earned the Heart Defender of the Week.
Papes and the Statesmen went 3-0 in Heart matches last week, with a 3-0 victory at No. 7 Mount Mercy, a 3-1 road win at Graceland and a sweep of No. 12 Grand View, 3-0.
For the week, the junior hit .435 and posted double-digit kills in all three matches. He averaged 4.70 kills per set and had 20 kills against Graceland.
Teammate Helmick also earned this award back on February 20. This past week, the Fullerton, California product accumulated 126 total assists, averaging 12.60 assists per set. His high for the week came against Graceland, when he had 56 assists. He also had 22 total digs.
Isernhagen and the Pirates stayed hot last week, to improve to 18-0 on the season with wins over (RV) Missouri Valley, 3-2, No. 12 Grand View, 3-1 and Campbellsville, 3-0.
For the week, the Curitiba, Brazil native averaged 1.36 blocks per set and averaged 2.18 kills per set at the net.
