Heart Men’s Volleyball Players of the Week – February 19

The Heart of America Athletic Conference Announced its Heart Men's Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday.

Aleksa Mandic of No. 12 ranked Missouri Baptist University was selected the Heart Attacker of the Week, while Xavier Gamayo of UHSP earned the Heart Defender of the Week and Rafael Vieyra of No. 15 ranked Mount Mercy garnered the Heart Setter of the Week.

Mandic and the Spartans went 2-0 last week with two sweeps over Rio Grande (Ohio) and Brescia (Ky.).

He posted a career-high 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .636 against Rio Grande and followed that up with 10 kills against Brescia.

Gamayo and the Eutectics went 3-0 last week with sweeps over Ottawa, Central Christian and Kansas Wesleyan.

The freshman collected 5.86 digs per set in the three matches, with 22 coming against KWU. UHSP is now 9-0 on the season.

Vieyra and the Mustangs also went 3-0 last week with three sweeps over Viterbo, and two against St. Ambrose.

The senior accumulated 101 total assists in the three matches, good for 12.63 assists per set.
