Mustangs, Spartans Take Home Heart Men’s Volleyball Weekly Awards
Two members of the No. 10 nationally ranked Mount Mercy University men's volleyball team earned Heart Men's Volleyball Weekly awards, while (RV) Missouri Baptist captured the other.
Akeel Oxley and Rafael Vieryra were selected the Heart Men's Volleyball Attacker and Setter of the Week, while MBU's Michael Anderson earned the Heart Defender of the Week.
Oxley and the Mustangs went 2-1 last week and the senior registered 49 total kills, averaging 4.90 kills per set and hit. 347 on the week. He also averaged 1.80 digs per set.
Teammate, Vieyra had 111 total assists on the week, averaging 11.10 per set. The senior also averaged 1.50 digs per set.
The Spartans had a 4-0 week last week, as Anderson led the way for MBU with 1.00 blocks per set and had a total of nine kills at the middle blocker spot.
