Oxley, Leao, Rudic Selected Heart Men’s Volleyball Players of the Week

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Men's Volleyball Player of the Week awards on Monday.

Akeel Oxley was selected the Heart Attacker of the Week for the second time in 2024, while Leonardo Leado earned his first Heart Defender of the Week of the season and David Rudic was named the Heart Setter of the Week for the first time this season.

Oxley and the Mustangs had a solid week last week, going 3-1 with wins over No. 8 Park, 3-0, Graceland 3-0 and Morningside 3-0.

The senior had 58 total kills on the week, averaging 4.83 kills per set. He had 27 kills in the 3-1 loss to No. 5 William Penn. The outside hitter hit .357 on the week as well.

Leado and the Vikings went 2-1 last week with an impressive 3-1 win over No. 4 Grand View, as well as a 3-0 win over Culver-Stockton and a 3-1 loss at No. 5 WPU.

The junior averaged 3.09 digs per set for the week, and had 15 digs against William Penn and 14 against Grand View.

Rudic and the Spartans went 2-0 last week with an impressive road win at No. 3 Park, 3-1, and defeated UHSP, 3-0.

The junior setter had 44 assists in the win at Park and 34 against UHSP, averaging 11.14 asissts per set for the week. He also averaged 1.00 block per set.
