Heart Cross Country Championships to be Held November 5

The 2022 Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are set for this Saturday, November 5 at DMACC Cross Country Course in Ankeny, Iowa, hosted by Grand View University.

The Women's 5K race will begin at 11 am, while the Men's 8K will begin at 11:45 am with the awards ceremony for both races to follow.

13 Heart teams will compete in each event.

Women's Team's competing: 
Baker, Benedictine, Central Methodist, Clarke, Evangel, Graceland, Grand View, MidAmerica Nazarene, Missouri Valley, Mount Mercy, Park, Peru State and William Penn.

Benedictine is the two-time defending Heart Women's Cross Country Champions, capturing the title in 2020 and 2021. 

Morgan Lawson is the defending Heart women's cross country individual champion, as she returns to the championship for Grand View.

Men's Team's competing:
Baker, Benedictine, Central Methodist, Clarke, Evangel, Graceland, Grand View, MidAmerica Nazarene, Missouri Valley, Mount Mercy, Park, Peru State and William Penn.

Grand View won the 2021 Heart Men's Cross Country Championship and looks to defend its crown.

Individual awards will also be handed out after the races. Runners who finish in the Top 10 of each race will be named to the Heart First Team All-Conference. Finishers 11-15, will earn a spot on the Honorable Mention All-Conference teams.
