The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards on Monday.

Haley Cotter of No. 8 ranked Central Methodist University earned the Heart Pitcher of the Week, while Alena Velilla of No. 20 ranked Benedictine College earned the Heart Player of the Week award.

Velilla and the Ravens went 4-2 last week and the sophomore recorded a hit in five of the six games.

She 8-17 on the week with two home runs, two doubles and a triple and knocked in seven RBI's.

Cotter earned two victories for CMU last week in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The junior threw 11.1 innings and posted an ERA of 0.62, allowing just one earned run and striking out seven total batters, including a complete game shutout against Thomas (Fla.) in a 7-0 win.
