William Penn Sweeps Heart Softball Weekly Awards

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart softball player of the Week awards on Monday afternoon.

William Penn University swept this week's awards, as Laila Smith was named the Heart Player of the Week and teammate Chelsey Huff was named the Heart Pitcher of the Week.

Smith and the Statesmen went 6-2 in eight games last week. The sophomore went 12-of-28 at the plate with three home runs, two doubles and knocked in 15 RBIs. She also scored eight runs.

Huff went 1-0 last week with an ERA of 0.81. The senior also struck out 16 batters and had just two walks.
