2024 Heart Women’s Basketball All-Conference Awards Announced

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2024 Heart Women's Basketball All-Conference teams and postseason awards on Friday.

The Heart head coaches selected a Heart First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention All-Conference team, as well as All-Defensive team.

The coaches also selected some individual awards that can be found below.

 

2024 Heart Women's Basketball Player of the Year – Nicole McDermott - Clarke

 The defending NAIA National Champion point guard helped lead the Pride to 81.1 points per game this season, the highest in the Heart in 2023-24. The senior averaged 16.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game this season. 

2024 Heart Women's Basketball Coach of the Year – Adam Hocking – Clarke

In his first season as head coach for the Pride, Coach Hocking led Clarke to a 28-1 overall record and 23-1 mark in the Heart regular season to capture the 2023-24 Heart regular season championship and earned the No. 1 seed in this week's Heart Women's Basketball Conference Tournament.

2024 Heart Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year – Zutorya Cook – Central Methodist

For the second-straight season, Cook earned the Heart Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year award. This season, she collected 86 total steals in 28 games, averaging 3.07 steals per game.

2024 Heart Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Year – Cleao Murray – Grand View

Murray had a terrific first season for the Vikings. She averaged 19.1 points per game, as well as 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Murray and the Vikings earned the No. 2 seed in this week's Heart Women's Basketball Conference Tournament.

2024 Heart Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year – Kameron Green – MidAmerica Nazarene

Green averaged 11.7 points per game and shot 54.2-percent in her first season with the Pioneers. The freshman also averaged 6.1 rebounds per game and had 29 blocks.

2024 Heart Women's Basketball Assistant Coach of the Year – Haley Froelich – Clarke

Coach Froelich and the Pride entered the postseason on an 11-game winning streak and featured the top three-point shooting team in the Heart. Clarke knocked down 229 three-point field goals this season, going 229-of-601, good for 38.1-percent.
