Heart Champions Highlight Final Heart Golfer of the Week Award Winners

In the final installment of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Golf Weekly honors, 2022 Heart Individual Champion Sam Maceli of William Penn University was named this week's Heart Women's Golfer of the Week, while fellow 2022 Heart Individual Champion Matias Baccola of Central Methodist was selected the Heart Men's Golfer of the Week.

Baccola won the Heart championship with a -10 under par performance at the 2022 Heart Golf Championships at The Golf Club at Creekmoor in Raymore, Mo., last week.

He shot rounds of 72, 68, 66 to win the event by nine strokes. The CMU eagles won the team championship as well and will next compete at the 2022 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship May 17-20 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

In just her freshman season, Maceli won the Heart individual crown with rounds of 80, 75 and 81 at the Heart Golf Championship, winning the event by just one stroke.

The Statesmen also won the team championship and will next compete at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships, May 24-27 at Lincoln Park West in Oklahoma City, Okla.
