Mount Mercy University Wins First-Ever Heart Women’s Golf Conference Championship
The Mount Mercy University women's golf team won their first-ever Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday afternoon, as they won the event by 14 strokes over two-time defending heart champion William Penn University.
The event took place at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake in Moravia, Iowa.
Mount Mercy's Aoi Ito won the individual title with rounds of 78, 77, 78 - 233. She finished three shots ahead of T-2nd place Emma Lawson of William Penn and Breanna Felderman of Mount Mercy who both shot 236.
The Mustangs have now qualified for the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships, May 14-17, at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

The 2024 Heart Women's Golf All-Conference team was also announced at the conclusion of the tournament.
The All-Conference team consists of 15 players. The 15 players will be the five low medalists, including ties for 5th-place, at the conference tournament.
The remaining All-Conference players will be selected by the Golf Stat individual adjusted scoring average ranking (to be eligible a player must have posted at least 10 competitive collegiate golf rounds during the academic year).
