Missouri Valley Women’s Lacrosse Selected for First-Ever 2023 Musco Team Sportsmanship Award

For their display of the NAIA's Five Core Character Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship & Servant Leadership, Missouri Valley College has been selected the 2023 Musco Team Sportsmanship Award recipient for the sport of women's lacrosse, announced by the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

The Vikings are the first team to capture the Musco Team Sportsmanship award for the sport of women's lacrosse, as the Heart added the sport in 2023.

"This award was developed by the Heart Association of Student-Athletes (HASA) and I am proud to see this award recognized for a second-straight year across the conference," said Heart of America Athletic Conference Commissioner Lori Thomas. "The Vikings are very deserving of this award."

Teams are nominated by Athletics Administrators, Game Officials, Coaches, Student-Athletes and Fans.

Here is what the nominators had to say about the Vikings:

"They were very respectful to our players and worked hard regardless of the outcome of the game. They left the locker rooms and sidelines better than they found them. Throughout the entire season they showed incredible sportsmanship and always played with heart."

For the spring season, the Heart will be awarding its Team Sportsmanship award to one team from each sport of men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's volleyball, baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf and outdoor track & field.
