MNU Women’s Soccer Sweeps Heart Player of the Week Awards

The (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene women's soccer team swept this week's Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards, as Sarah Assumma earned the Heart Offensive Player of the Week nod and teammate Marcelle Thedinga was named the Heart Defensive Player of the Week.

This marks the second Heart Offensive Player of the Week accolade for Assumma, she also won the award back on August 29.

Assumma scored two goals last week, one each against (RV) Benedictine and Culver-Stockton. The Pioneers defeated BC, 2-0 and C-SC, 4-0. The Temecula, California native has scored 10 goals this season, with four coming in conference play.

Thedinga earned those two shutouts in goal last week for the Pioneers. She had two big saves in the win over Culver-Stockton.

MNU is now 6-2 overall and 3-1 in Heart play. They have recorded four shutouts so far in 2022.
