Heart Announces WinWon Women’s Soccer Players of the Week – September 18

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its WinWon Women's Soccer Players of the Week on Monday. 

Kirsten Wetterstrom of No. 18 nationally ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University earned the Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, while Hope Ward of Clarke University was awarded the Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Wetterstrom and the Pioneers opened Heart conference play last week with an impressive, 5-0, victory over Culver-Stockton College.

The junior scored two goals for the Pioneers and recorded an assist. MNU improved to 3-2-1 overall on the season.

Ward and the Pride also opened Heart action with a victory, as they defeated Graceland, 4-1 last week. They also defeated non-conference opponent Missouri Baptist, 2-1.

The senior scored the opening goal in each game last week off of two corner kicks, finishing with a header on the net for each goal. She also helped anchor the defense to allowing just 13 total shots and six on goal over the stretch of those two contests.

The Pride are now 6-0-2 on the season and the only team left in the Heart undefeated.
