Two First Time Winners in 2023 Highlight This Week’s WinWon Women’s Soccer Players of the Week

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its WinWon Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards on Monday, as two first time winners in 2023 highlight this week's awards.

Mariana Barreto of No. 6 nationally ranked Central Methodist earned the WinWon Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award, while Marta Carrasco Meso of No. 23 ranked Missouri Valley College was selected the WinWon Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Barreto had four goals and an assist for CMU last week in their two victories, a 5-1 win over William Penn and a 4-0 win over Grand View.

The freshman scored the game-winner in both games and had a hat trick against Grand View.

Carrasco Mesa and the Vikings also went 2-0 last week, with a thrilling 2-1 win over No. 25 ranked MidAmerica Nazarene and a 3-0 win over Baker.

The sophomore helped anchor the back line that allowed just one goal on the week, and allowed just nine total shots and five shots on goal.
