2023 Heart Women’s Soccer All-Conference Teams & Postseason Awards Announced
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its 2023 Heart Women's Soccer 1st, 2nd and 3rd Team All-Conference teams, as well as six postseason awards on Thursday morning.
2023 Heart Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year – Alicia Zamora – Central Methodist
This is the third-straight season Zamora has landed on the First-Team All-Conference. She has helped lead the CMU defense to seven shutout victories this season and the Eagles ha allowed just 15 total goals.
The senior from Valladolid, Spain has also scored five goals this season, while also recording one assist.
2023 Heart Coach of the Year – Dan Schmidlin – Central Methodist University
Coach Schmidlin and the No. 3 nationally ranked Eagles, went a perfect 11-0 in Heart play this season and 15-1-1 overall.
This marks the fifth-straight Heart regular season championship for CMU. In 2021, he helped lead the Eagles all the way to the NAIA National Semifinals in Orange Beach, Alabama.
2023 Heart Offensive Player of the Year – Ashley Arribas – Missouri Valley College
Last season, Arribas was selected the Heart Newcomer of the Year. In 2023, the sophomore has helped lead Missouri Valley to the No. 2 seed in this week's Heart Conference Tournament.
The Lake Forest, California native has scored 16 goals this season and two assists. In her last five Heart games, she has scored eight total goals.
2023 Heart Newcomer of the Year – Kirstine Lykke – Central Methodist University
Lykke had a stellar first year with the Eagles, scoring 13 goals and recording one assist. The Haderslev, Denmark product has scored in three of the last four CMU games and has four multi-goal games this season.
2023 Heart Freshman of the Year – Mariana Barreto – Central Methodist University
In her freshman season with the Heart champions, Barreto has scored 12 goals so far this season and has five assists. She also has give game-winning goals in 2023.
