GVU's LaVon Davis Earns National Honors

Kansas City, MO – Grand View's LaVon Davis (SR/Gilbert, IA) collects NAIA Field Athlete of the Week after placing first in both shot put and weight throw at the St. Ambrose COVID Season Finale Meet this past weekend, February 13.

Davis won the weight throw at the meet with a mark of 18.37m out of sixteen competitors. The senior thrower also won the shot put posting a conference-leading and #6 mark in the NAIA with a throw of 13.38m to lead the Vikings to the team title.

Davis and her team will compete in the Heart of America Conference Championship this Friday and Saturday in Maryville, Missouri. On Friday, the competition will begin at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
