Heart Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week – January 31, 2022

In the fourth edition of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, Madison Sutton of Benedictine College captured the Indoor Field Athlete of the Week nod, while Andrea Ertz of Mount Mercy earned the Heart Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award. 

Sutton and the Ravens competed at the Jayhawk Classic last week and the Lexington, Nebraska native finished in first-place in the women's shot put with a toss of 13.82m, which placed her in the NAIA 'A' standard mark.

Then in the weight throw, the sophomore won the event with a throw of 15.38m, ahead of all six competitors.

Ertz, had a terrific showing at the Fighting Bee Invitational. She won the 1,000m race in a time of 2:55.86, which is the fastest time currently in the NAIA. She won the event out of 16 competitors. That time also hit the 'A standard NAIA qualifying mark.

Then in the 800m race, the Marion, Iowa product again finished first in a time of 2:21.05. That time is the second fastest women's 800m time in the NAIA.
