
Heart Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced
The Heart of America Athletic Conference Announced its first Heart Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon, presented by BoxOut.
Dayana Montenegro of Central Methodist University was selected the Heart Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Victoria Lotz of MidAmerica Nazarene earned the Heart Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Lotz and the Pioneers competed at the Washburn Rust Buster in Topeka, Kansas on January 17.
The senior broke the school record on the weight throw with a toss of 18.68m to place first. That mark hit the NAIA 'A' Standard of Qualification for the NAIA National Championships and is the top throw in the NAIA so far this season.
She also placed fifth overall in the shot put with a toss of 13.00m.
Montenegro won the 400m dash at the Concordia Polar Dog Invite in a time of 56.98, hitting the NAIA 'B' Standard of Qualification for the NAIA National Championships.
She also won the 600-yard run at the Coach Alsup Open in Maryville, MO with a national qualifying time of 1:24.83.
