Central Methodist Sweeps Heart Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

In the third installment of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, Central Methodist University swept the weekly awards, as Gizel Clayton was selected the Heart Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and teammate Baylee Beard earned the Heart Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Clayton competed in the 200-meter and 100-meter races at the CMU Invite last week. The sophomore won the 200-meter in a time of 24.90 and followed that up with a second-place finish in the 100-meter with a time of 11.89. She hit the NAIA 'A' Standard in the 100-meter dash.

Beard broke the CMU school record in the shot put and hammer throw at last week's CMU Invite.

The freshman won the shot put with a toss of 13.40m, which hit the NAIA 'B' Standard to qualify for the NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field championship. She followed that up with a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.20m, to hit the NAIA 'A' Standard for qualification.
