Central Methodist Wins First-Ever Heart Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship
Central Methodist University captured its first-ever Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship on Saturday, as they earned 179 points, 16.5 points ahead of second-place Benedictine College.
Under the direction of head coach Kenny Anderson, the Eagles earned six first-place finishes including the 4x400-meter relay, 100-meter, 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter, 400-meter and high jump.
Caroline Cobo of Benedictine College scored the most points of any athlete at the meet for the second-straight season, as she scored 30 points with a first-place finish in the 800-meter in a time of 2:15.93, she also won the women's 1,500m in a time of 4:48.42 and won the 3,000m steeple chase in a time of 11:19.02.
The following awards will be announced on Monday, Heart Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Track Athlete of the Meet and Field Athlete of the Meet.
The top three finishers in each event will be considered 2023 Heart Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference athletes. 1st Place = First Team All-Conference, 2nd Place = Second Team All-Conference, 3rd Place = Third Team All-Conference, and fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in each event will be considered 2022 Heart Outdoor Track & Field Honorable Mention All-Conference.
