2023 Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field Postseason Awards Announced

The Heart of America Athletic Conference completed the 2023 Heart Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 6 on the campus of Mount Mercy University. The Heart is now pleased to announce its 2023 Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field Postseason awards.

The following awards were voted on by the Heart Track & Field head coaches:

2023 Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year – Kenny Anderson – Central Methodist University

Coach Anderson led the Eagles to their first-ever Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship on Saturday. The Eagles earned six first-place finishes including the 4x400-meter relay, 100-meter, 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter, 400-meter and high jump. Anderson was also the 2023 Heart Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.

2023 Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year – Jerry Sikkema – Mount Mercy University

Coach Sikkema helped lead the Mount Mercy throws team to 32 of the Mustangs' 55 team points at the Heart Championships, including a first-place finish for Abby Hill in the javelin with a throw of 40.07m and Bre Nail in the women's shot put with a toss of 13.48m.

2023 Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field - Field Athlete of the Meet – Madison Sutton – Benedictine College

Sutton and the Ravens finished second overall as a team at the Heart Championships and she won the discus with a first-place throw of 44.95-m. She is the defending NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Champion in the discus. The junior also placed third in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.90m. Sutton also placed third in the shot put with a toss of 13.04m.

2023 Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field - Track Athlete of the Meet – Caroline Cobo – Benedictine College

Cobo was also the 2022 Heart Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet last season. This season, Cobo won three events including the 1,500-meter, 800-meter and 3,000-meter steeplechase.

She ran the 1,500 in 4:48.42, as well as the 800-meter in a time of 2:15.93 and the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:19.02.
