O'Neil, Straus Earn First Heart Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Awards of 2025

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its first Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards on Monday afternoon.

Shannon O'Neil of Central Methodist University was named the Heart Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Delaney Straus of Culver-Stockton College was named the Heart Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

O'Neil won the 400m hurdles at the CMU Open last week in a time of 1:05.87. She also placed eighth overall in the high jump with a jump of 1.46m.

Straus won two events at the CMU Open last week, including first in the triple jump with a jump of 11.12m and placed first in the javelin with a throw of 35.71m. Both marks put her now second in program history in each event.
