2021 Heart Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Teams Announced

As the 2021 Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament concluded last week, the conference has announced its 2021 Heart All-Conference teams and major award winners.

For the fourth time in her career, Park University's outside hitter Nada Meawad has been named the Conference Player of the Year.

In 2017 and 2018 she was named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Year and has now been selected the Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021.

The senior from Cairo, Egypt was also selected the 2021 Heart Attacker of the Year. She was named the Heart Attacker of the Week six times this season and is the NAIA's leader in total kills with 476 and kills per set at 5.01. She is Park's all-time leader in kills and has twice been selected the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Player of the Year, 2018 and 2020.

The Pirates' head coach Michael Talamantes earned his second-straight Heart Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year honor after leading Park to a perfect 19-0 record in the regular season. No. 4 nationally ranked park won the Heart Regular Season and Conference tournament Championships. In their two seasons in the Heart, the Pirates have yet to drop a match to a conference opponent.

Garrett Case, assistant coach of the nationally ranked Central Methodist Eagles, was selected the 2021 Heart Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach of the Year.

Benedictine's Marea Wortmann was named the Heart Setter of the Year after a terrific sophomore season.

The Lenexa, Kansas native led the Ravens to an appearance in the Heart Conference Tournament and averaged 10.24 assists per set this season and dished out 922 total assists for the Ravens. She also earned a spot on the 2021 Heart First Team All-Conference.

Eryn Russell earns her second-straight Heart Defender of the Year award, as the junior is second in the nation in total digs with 611 and finished the 2021 season ranked first in the Heart in digs per set at 5.31. She was also named to the First Team All-Conference in 2021.

Baker University's Allisyn Frank and Mount Mercy's Hailey Hested were named the 2021 Heart Co-Freshman of the Year.

Frank, who is a middle hitter for the Wildcats, had 203 total kills her freshman season and 86 total blocks, with 60 coming in Heart conference play, which ranked 6th in the Heart.

Hested was the primary setter for the Mustangs in 2021 and averaged 9.59 assists per set in conference games with 662 total assists in those matches.
