Park Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Heart Weekly Awards

After a 4-0 week last week, the No. 4 nationally ranked Park Pirates swept this week's Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Weekly awards, announced by the conference office on Monday.

Thaynara Jesus, Julia Alvarez and Giovanna Bello all earned awards for the Pirates, as Park defeated Culver-Stockton, 3-0, McPherson, 3-0, John Brown, 3-0 and William Woods, 3-0.

Jesus, earned Heart Attacker of the Week after her 47 kills in those four matches. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native also had a double-double in three of the four matches, with 13 kills and 12 digs against Culver-Stockton, 11 kills and 10 digs against McPherson and 14 kills and 12 digs against William Woods.

Alvarez had 168 assists on the week, averaging 14.00 assists per set. The Rio De Janeiro, Brazil native also averaged 2.33 digs per set. She recorded over 40 assists in three of the Pirates' four matches, earning Heart Setter of the Week honors.

Bello had 73 digs for Park, with double digit digs in all four matches, including 24 in the win over John Brown. The Rio De Janeiro, Brazil product averaged 6.08 digs per set, helping her capture the Heart Defender of the Week honor.
