
Johnson, Davis and Verdino Earn Heart Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week Honors
In the fifth edition of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors, Mikayla Johnson of (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene was named the Heart Attacker of the Week, while teammate Katrina Davis earned the Heart Setter of the Week and Irene Verdino of No. 11 ranked Park is the Heart Defender of the Week.

The Pioneers have jumped out to their best start in program history, at 14-0. Johnson had zero attack errors on 44 total attempts last week in MNU's wins over Benedictine (3-0), Grand View (3-0) and William Penn (3-0).
She hit .636 on the week, with 28 total kills, averaging 3.11 kills per set. Her best match of the week came against William Penn, when she registered 12 kills.
Davis dished out 100 total assists in those three victories, averaging 11.11 assists per match. She had 36 assists against Benedictine, 32 against Grand View and 32 against WPU. She also had 20 total digs, averaging 2.22 digs per set.
Verdino and the Pirates went 3-0 last week, with victories over Baker (3-0), William Penn (3-0) and Grand View (3-0).
The Rome, Italy native had 33 digs in those three matches, averaging 3.67 digs per set, including an impressive 20 digs against Grand View. She also recorded 14 total kills and seven service aces on the week.
