
William Penn’s Alyssa Young Selected Heart Attacker and Defender of the Week, Johnson of Grand View Earns Setter of the Week
For the first time this season, a Heart women’s volleyball player earned two Heart Weekly awards, as William Penn University’s Alyssa Young was selected the Heart Women’s Volleyball Attacker and Defender of the Week, while Grand View’s Alesha Johnson was named the Heart Setter of the Week.
For the first time this season, a Heart women's volleyball player earned two Heart Weekly awards, as William Penn University's Alyssa Young was selected the Heart Women's Volleyball Attacker and Defender of the Week, while Grand View's Alesha Johnson was named the Heart Setter of the Week.
Young and the Statesmen went 3-1 last week, in those four matches, the senior middle hitter had 52 total kills, averaging 3.71 kills per set. In the Heart win over Culver-Stockton, she had a team-high 18 kills.
She was stellar defensively as well, with 21 blocks on the week, averaging 1.50 blocks per set. The Winter Springs, Florida native had an impressive 10 blocks against Culver-Stockton.
Johnson helped lead Grand View to two Heart victories last week, both in four sets, against Baker and Benedictine.
She recorded 97 assists in those two matches, averaging 12.13 assists per set and tallied 15 total digs, averaging 1.88 digs per set.
